this page describes how parrots mimic human speech
(assuming you know the IPA)
quaker parrots
- voiced plosives either are ambiguous or turn into voiceless equivalents (eg /p/→/b/, /g/↔/k/)
- fricatives except /s/ and /f/ vanish
- /ŋ/ also vanishes
- /r/ → /w/ sometimes
- end consonants except /l/ vanish
- /n/ spared from these shenanigans
- /e/ notably raspy or croaky, like a squawk
